Decoding the Secrets of Crypto from Sugar Hemp Farms
Unearth the nuances of 'Crypto', a hybrid strain that's as enigmatic as its name suggests. This scruffy 60/40 indica-dominant strain emerges from the expert crossbreeding of the Zkittlez and Gelonade strains, intertwining their most notable features to craft a versatile and enchanting cannabis experience that is complex and unique.
The Zkittlez strain is renowned for its tantalizing tropical fruit undertones, often evoking the sweetness of rainbow candy. Contrastingly, Gelonade shines with its stimulating and uplifting effects, encapsulating a sharp lemony aroma fused with a creamy gelato essence. The union of these iconic strains results in "Crypto", which boasts a complex flavor profile and a harmoniously balanced high that offers a brief initial cerebral rush followed by a soothing body-centric relaxation.
Terpene Profile
When it comes to aroma, 'Crypto' encrypts a message of pine, earth, diesel, and kush. The taste, a direct manifestation of its terpene profile, echoes these scents. According to the Sugar Hemp Farms website, Crypto's top 3 terpenes are Beta-Caryophyllene, Humulene, and Linalool. Beta-Caryophyllene, specifically, lends a peppery spice to the mix. I also detect a hint of pine which would typically derive from the Pinene terpene but at the time of writing this I can't confirm due to the lack of a full terpene spectrum profile in the lab results.
Research has shown that BCP has anti-inflammatory effects, which can help in conditions like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and other inflammatory disorders. It also has analgesic (pain-relieving) properties and is known to be a potent anti-depressant.
While I may not be its biggest fan of this piney taste, I can appreciate the complexity it brings to the table and realize that this is a personal preference.
Cannabinoid Composition
With a THCA content clocking in at 27%, 'Crypto' is not for the faint-hearted. The accompanying 0.22% Δ9 THC, though modest, rounds out the psychoactive experience. Additionally, the CBGa value of 1.03% offers hints of the strain's broader therapeutic potential
Appearance
This strain showcases its beauty with dense, dark purple, almost black-green nugs. With medium to medium-small bud sizes, 'Crypto' is naturally dense, and moderately dry. Similar to the previous Sugar Hemp Farms post, Mango Sherbert, there was no terpene shield included however the nugs were still soft and fragrant.
Effects and Experience
Though I may not always pine for the pine flavor (pun absolutely intended), I can't deny the compelling effects of Crypto. Given its high THCA content, it's sure to have enthusiasts feeling like they've struck digital gold. The Crypto high starts with a minor cerebral rush of sativa-induced euphoria and creativity, quickly melting into a warm, body-centric relaxation without completely locking one to the couch. The general sensation I would characterize for this strain might be a calming body warmth and heaviness, perfect for winding down after a long day or for those who might benefit from its anti-inflammatory properties.
Conclusion
In the end, 'Crypto' stands out not just for its clever name but for the intricate dance of genetics, aromas, flavors, and effects. It may not be the Bitcoin of cannabis strains for me personally due to its peppery undertone but it's undoubtedly a worthy investment for those indica seekers with a high tolerance and a pention for Beta-Caryophyllene.
If I cared for the flavor more, this would be an easy 4 out of 5, but as it stands I give Crypto a 3 out of 5. The high THCA content is exactly what I look for in an indica strain but the terpene profile, specifically the flavor, made it difficult to enjoy so I will be sticking to some alternatives like Hash Burger and Northern Lights.
I definitely DO recommend this strain to anyone looking for a high THCA indica strain with this flavor profile, you'll have a great time!
